Louise, Lisa and Karen raise awareness about mental health issues and promote ways for people to look after their mental wellbeing.
What the service offers
The service is confidential and offers one-to-one advice and information to those feeling low, stressed or anxious, as well as support to access groups and activities.
The service covers two main areas: one-to-one advice and information sessions, and health promotion/training.
Referrals to the service come mainly from GPs in the area via the Healthy Living Centre’s Healthy Living Prescription scheme (HLP) for the one-to-one support. This can be delivered through home visits, or through appointments at the Healthy Living Centre, or other community venues. The project supports over 100 clients each year, with some very positive outcomes, and is a popular service amongst local GPs.
The service aims to contribute to a reduction in stress and isolation in East Brighton, as well as promote positive messages about mental health thereby removing long-standing stigmas.
